Exile on Front Street: My Life as a Hells Angel and Beyond

Kindle ebook

Author: George Christie

Summary: After forty years in the Hells Angels, George Christie was ready to retire. As president of the high-profile Ventura charter of the club, he had been the yin to Sonny Barger’s yang. Barger was the reckless figurehead and de facto world leader of the Hells Angels. Christie was the negotiator, the spokesman, the thinker, the guy who smoothed things out. He was the one who carried the Olympic torch and counted movie stars, artists, rock musicians, and police chief captains among his friends. But leaving the Hells Angels isn’t easy, and within two weeks of retirement, he was told he was “out bad”---blackballed by his fellow Angels, prohibited from wearing the club patch, and even told he should remove his Death Head tattoo. Now Christie sets out to tell his story. Exile on Front Street is the tale of how a former Marine gave up a comfortable job with the Department of Defense and swore allegiance to the Hells Angels. In this revealing, hard-hitting memoir, he recounts his life as an outlaw biker with the world’s most infamous motorcycle club.

Biker's Inner Circle

Altamont: The Rolling Stones, the Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of: Rock\'s Darkest Day Altamont: The Rolling Stones, the Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of: Rock\'s Darkest Day

Kindle ebook

Author: Joel Selvin

Summary: In this breathtaking cultural history filled with exclusive, never-before-revealed details, celebrated rock journalist Joel Selvin tells the definitive story of the Rolling Stones’ infamous Altamont concert in San Francisco, the disastrous historic event that marked the end of the idealistic 1960s. In the annals of rock history, the Altamont Speedway Free Festival on December 6, 1969, has long been seen as the distorted twin of Woodstock—the day that shattered the Sixties’ promise of peace and love when a concertgoer was killed by a member of the Hells Angels, the notorious biker club acting as security. While most people know of the events from the film Gimme Shelter, the whole story has remained buried in varied accounts, rumor, and myth—until now. Altamont explores rock’s darkest day, a fiasco that began well before the climactic death of Meredith Hunter and continued beyond that infamous December night. Joel Selvin probes every aspect of the show—from the Stones’ hastily planned tour preceding the concert to the bad acid that swept through the audience to other deaths that also occurred that evening—to capture the full scope of the tragedy and its aftermath. He also provides an in-depth look at the Grateful Dead’s role in the events leading to Altamont, examining the band’s behind-the-scenes presence in both arranging the show and hiring the Hells Angels as security. The product of twenty years of exhaustive research and dozens of interviews with many key players, including medical staff, Hells Angels members, the stage crew, and the musicians who were there, and featuring sixteen pages of color photos, Altamont is the ultimate account of the final event in rock’s formative and most turbulent decade.

Outlaw Adventures of BAD BOB Outlaw Adventures of BAD BOB

Kindle ebook

Author: Robert Tuft

Summary: Call me the last of my kind. I'm a made man. Swore the blood oath, omertà, and never looked back when I became a member of one of the Five Families in the Mafia. I came around when bosses, captains, and soldiers were real men, not like the rats we have today who earn their money then betray their friends when the feds make the going tough. I've been in "the life" most of my life. My name is Frank Palmeri. Palmeri is not my real name because even though I make my living now by legitimate means, I'm still a member of the Mafia. I always will be. As I said, I swore the oath. The Mafia is more than a crime organization; it's the life you live. I served time because of a wire-wearing rat. Now I'm writing this book and sharing information about a secret organization that is no longer secret because the rats have spilled everything. So you understand, this book is not written by an informant who wants to look good now that he has cooperated with the government... ...I never cooperated. ? After completing a long prison sentence, wiseguy, Frank Palmeri, shares his thoughts about the decline of the New York Mafia. Palmeri discusses the basic tenets of the Mafia organization, including the code of silence that so many made men discarded when they decided to cooperate with the federal government. In turn, the US government systematically deconstructed the Mafia using the 1970 Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO). Palmeri describes the history of the Mafia, including the creation of the original Five Families of New York (Genovese, Bonanno, Gambino, Lucchese, and Profaci, which later became the Colombo Family) by Charlie "Lucky" Luciano in 1931. The author reveals a series of poor leadership decisions, as well as unnecessary and "unapproved" murders within the organization that eventually led to prominent members from all of the Five Families to turn on each other in order to bargain for more lenient sentences or protection from the feds. The basic structure and chain of command in the crime organization is described. Palmeri also calls out the failures and missteps of Mafia bosses and underbosses, including John Gotti, John Gotti Jr., and Sammy the Bull Gravano, which later made it easy for the government... ...to arrest and convict many prominent made men. The main point of Bugs, Bull, & Rats speaks directly to the title of the book. Palmeri blames the breakdown of the organization from 3000 made men in the '70s to fewer than 500 members in the current day to the betrayal of weak-minded members... many of whom Palmeri believes should never have been inducted into the organization.

The Twin Peaks Ambush: A True Story About The Press, The Police And The Last American Outlaws

Kindle ebook

Author: Donald Charles Davis

Summary: A year after the fact, the brief, deadly, biker brawl in the parking lot of the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas on May 17, 2015 remains a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Nine people died and nineteen more were wounded. Numerous news outlets “explained” the event as a “real life Sons of Anarchy episode.” Until now, that has been as insightful as writers for numerous national and international publications have dared to be. From the very beginning, local authorities in Texas have tightly controlled the narrative of what happened in Waco that Sunday in May in order to save themselves from embarrassment and criminal and civil liability. Almost two hundred people face long prison terms for conspiring to act criminally although so far local prosecutors have refused to state what each of those defendants actually did other than try to survive. The prosecutors’ refusal to talk about the case has led to widespread and often wild speculation. Now, the shroud of propaganda and lies has finally been lifted. In the exhaustively researched The Twin Peaks Ambush: A True Story About The Press, The Police And The Last American Outlaws, Donald Charles Davis tells the true story of that tragic day to you. And what you read will surprise, touch and outrage you.

White Devil: The True Story of the First White Asian Crime Boss White Devil: The True Story of the First White Asian Crime Boss

Kindle ebook

Author: Bob Halloran

Summary: The amazing true story of the only white man to rise to the top of the Chinese mafia. In August 2013, “Bac Guai” John Willis, also known as the “White Devil” because of his notorious ferocity, was sentenced to 20 years for drug trafficking and money laundering. Willis, according to prosecutors, was “the kingpin, organizer and leader of a vast conspiracy,” all within the legendarily insular and vicious Chinese mafia. It started when John Willis was 16 years old . . . his life seemed hopeless. His father had abandoned his family years earlier, his older brother had just died of a heart attack, and his mother was dying. John was alone, sleeping on the floor of his deceased brother’s home. Desperate, John reached out to Woping, a young Chinese man Willis had rescued from a bar fight weeks before. Woping literally picks him up off the street, taking him home to live among his own brothers and sisters. Soon, Willis is accompanying Woping to meet his Chinese mobster friends, and starts working for them. Journalist Bob Halloran tells the tale of John Willis, aka White Devil, the only white man to ever rise through the ranks in the Chinese mafia. Willis began as an enforcer, riding around with other gang members to “encourage” people to pay their debts. He soon graduated to even more dangerous work as a full-fledged gang member, barely escaping with his life on several occasions. As a white man navigating an otherwise exclusively Asian world, Willis was at first an interesting anomaly, but his ruthless devotion to his adopted culture eventually led to him emerging as a leader. He organized his own gang of co-conspirators and began an extremely lucrative criminal venture selling tens of thousands of oxycodone pills. A year-long FBI investigation brought him down, and John pleaded guilty to save the love of his life from prosecution. He has no regrets. White Devil explores the workings of the Chinese mafia, and he speaks frankly about his relationships with other gang members, the crimes he committed, and why he’ll never rat out any of his brothers to the cops. Told to Halloran from Willis’s prison cell, White Devil is a shocking portrait of a man who was allowed access into a secret world, and who is paying the price for his hardened life.

Ellen Abrams a widow and mother to JD, a boy with autism, accepts a position as principal at Brookfield Alternative High School in Milwaukee. One night Mason’s and Ellen’s carefully crafted worlds collide. While attending a rally the Sons of Thunder are hosting, Mason becomes the target of club president, Spider Mullen’s, and vice president, Mad Dog’s wrath. Deliberately disregarding club protocol, Mason has invited Jack Nelson, the owner of Fortunate Sons’ Auto dealership, to the rally without their permission. If the invitation puts Mason in the good graces of Jack Nelson, his punishment will be worth it. Jack is the only person who can free Mason from the monotony of mill work and offer him a life of easy cash and the thrill of a daring life style. After promising Spider and Mad Dog, he will take full responsibility for Jack’s actions, and offering them a solemn apology, Mason escapes with only a single blow to the abdomen and orders to stand guard at the end of the road. A humbled Mason accepts the task, but not before finagling a ride on his motorcycle. On her way home from a colleague’s cabin, Ellen’s car breaks down and she finds herself stranded on a dark, lonely highway, with no cell reception. As night encroaches, horrific memories of the accident that killed her husband seven years ago, resurface. Finally a single headlight splits the darkness. When Mason Hackett rolls up behind her, and peers into the window of the car, his long, wind-swept hair, intense eyes, and formidable club colors escalate her fears. However, Mason’s offer of help and his sincere regard of her safety, alleviate some of her distress. With no other alternatives available, Ellen agrees to ride back to the rally with him. While sitting behind Mason on his motorcycle, her thighs squeezing his, Ellen experiences a resurgence of sexual desire, she thought had died with her husband. At the rally, Ellen is introduced to a bizarre world where sexual promiscuity, violence, and drugs are taken for granted. She watches Mason’s girlfriend, Desi Harrington, an exotic dancer, dance upon a flatbed trailer, while Mason serves as her dancing pole. She witnesses a card game between a drunken man and woman that leads to vicious knife fight between the woman’s husband and her opponent. Yet despite the unrefined rawness of Mason’s world, throughout the night Ellen continues to be infatuated with Mason and finds herself resentful of the fact he has a girlfriend. Mason too, can’t stop watching Ellen and is surprised by how attracted he is to a woman so obviously not of his world. Their attraction does not go unnoticed by those around them. Dee Dee Mullen, Spider’s wife, warns Mason that Ellen is not one of them and Desi’s jealous nature is evident the moment he introduces the two of them. At the end of the night, Mad Dog offers Ellen a place to sleep in his tent, and Mason can’t understand why he is so envious of his best friend. Days after the rally, the two of them meet once again and succumb to their passion. A relationship ensues that pits one world against the other. Mason meets JD, Ellen’s ten-year-old son with autism and realizes in order to keep Ellen he must be a father figure to the boy. The task seems like a hopeless endeavor. At the same time, Jack Nelson hires Mason to be his hit man for his lucrative drug trade. Although Mason begins to make more money than he thought possible, his risky profession begins to topple his relationship with not only Ellen, but with the Sons of Thunder. One day Jack pays Mason to kill Mad Dog. A treacherous showdown is planned. In a twist of fate, Ellen becomes an unwitting pawn in their deadly scheme.
